Alpert Jewish Family Service Leads the Way: Hires Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr. Jeryl Kershner

Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Service is proud to announce that Dr. Jeryl Kershner, who specializes in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, will be practicing here at our West Palm agency as of September 3, 2019.

With over 30 years of practice as a Developmental Pediatrician and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Dr. Kershner utilizes a wealth of experience and expertise. Her training includes a fellowship in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at the Developmental Medical Center of Children’s Hospital in Boston and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Additionally, she was on the clinical faculty at Boston Children’s Hospital, where she worked with Dr. Richard Ferber in the Sleep Disorders Center.

“More than 50% of adult mental illnesses can be diagnosed before age 14. Unfortunately, more often than not, children do not get the help they need. The addition of Dr.Kershner to our behavioral health team now allows us to be responsive to families at all ages and stages of development. We are so fortunate that this exceptional child psychiatrist is joining Alpert JFS!” said Dr. Elaine Rotenberg, Clinical Director of Alpert JFS.
Dr. Kershner is certified by The American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, CHADD, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

She will provide services in Psychiatric and Developmental Consultation, Psychopharmacology and Medication Management. Dr. Kershner has experience in treating anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, behavior issues, depression, eating disorders, learning disorders, school phobias and sleep disorders.
