Alpert JFS is pleased to welcome Kelley Whiter as Chief Development Officer. She will be responsible for all fundraising and development activities, and furthering the agency’s mission of providing help and hope to people of all ages and faiths at the most challenging times of their lives.
Kelley comes to us from the American Society for the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (ATS), where she spent seven years as Senior Director of Development, providing strategic direction and vision for the ATS Southern Region. While there, she oversaw a regional campaign of $12 million, with a focus on major gifts.
Her 14-year fundraising career also includes positions of increasing responsibility at a number of national and local Jewish communal organizations, including Hadassah, Jewish Federation in both West Palm Beach and Boca Raton, and the American Jewish Committee. Prior to embarking on a career in the non-profit sector, Whiter practiced real estate law for more than 16 years.
The transition from the legal industry to non-profit sector was a natural for Whiter, who has a deep personal connection and first-hand experience with the mission and work of Jewish family service. Her father was a volunteer with his local JFS Kosher Connection, serving hot meals to underserved seniors, and, later, a client of its Enhanced Companion program. She herself is an experienced Friendly Visitor, delighting in the time she has been able to spend with her 94-year-old assisted living facility resident friend for more than two years prior to the pandemic, and looks forward to doing more of it in the post-Coronavirus world!
“In addition to her professional experience in leadership, financial resource development, board development, board training, management and governance, Kelley gives back to seniors, supports services, and has a genuine care and concern,” said Alpert CEO Marc Hopin. “She understands the value of volunteering, and the impact of giving back first-hand.”
“I look forward to growing resources for the agency, and interacting with everyone, so we can continue to do great work,” said Whiter. “Together with our wonderful lay leadership and philanthropic Jewish community we can grow critical resources for the agency, amplifying the leading role that Alpert JFS has played for more than 46 years.”
Whiter received her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from her home town’s New York University, and Juris Doctorate from Columbia University School of Law, where she was a Stone Scholar. Whiter was admitted into the Florida Bar and New York Bar Association.
Outside of work, the Lake Worth resident is an avid hiker, cyclist and travel enthusiast.
We look forward to watching Kelley inspire the development team and help drive our mission, so we can reach new heights together!
